A new study suggests getting a moderate amount of plant substances called flavonoids may be linked to a lower stomach cancer risk in women but not men.

European researchers found that women with the highest intake of flavonoids were half as likely to develop the disease.

A flavonoid-rich diet includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans tea and wine.

The study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" adds more evidence that healthy lifestyles may reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
