Prentice Women's Hospital granted temporary landmark status

A Cook County judge has granted temporary landmark status to Prentice Women's Hospital.

That means the city cannot issue a demolition permit for now.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has backed Northwestern's push to replace the building with a medical research center.

Preservationists trying to save Prentice sued the Commission on Chicago Landmarks.

The next hearing is scheduled for December 7.
