Happy people more likely to earn more, researchers say

November 20, 2012

Researchers find young people who report being really happy and satisfied with their lives earn higher levels of income later in life.

While the study did not find a direct cause and effect, it did show happier teens were more likely to get a college degree. They were also more likely to get a job and be promoted more quickly than their cranky peers.

Researchers say creating an emotionally healthy home environment early on seems to be key.

There is more on the study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
