Study: Kids who eat healthier ate less to feel full

December 17, 2012

Researchers studied the effects of snacks on about 200 children in grades three through six.

Some kids consumed high-nutrient cheese and vegetables while others were given low-nutrient potato chips.

The children were allowed to eat as much as they wanted. Those who ate the cheese and vegetables consumed 72 percent fewer calories than those who ate chips. They needed far fewer calories to feel full.
