Tamiflu approved for infants with new flu symptoms

December 24, 2012

The Food and Drug Administration says that Tamiflu can now be prescribed for infants who have had flu-like symptoms for under two days.

Tamiflu is used for both flu treatment and prevention in adults, though it's only a treatment for infants.

More than $3 billion worth of the drug were sold in 2009 during the swine flu epidemic, although some researchers say that they are not convinced of its effectiveness.
