Highly saturated oxygen treatments help premature babies

December 27, 2012

The study followed up data from 2010 that showed highly saturated oxygen helped the immediate survival chances of babies born between 24 and 27 weeks gestation.

Continued tracking of those infants showed that the oxygen treatments have helped them survive to be toddlers without negatively affecting their vision, which had been a concern.

The study appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine.
