Fines increased for people who don't report missing guns

The Cook County Board is trying to make it expensive for people to buy guns legally and give them to people who can't legally own them.

The gimmick is called a straw purchase.

The board passed an ordinance providing stiff fines for people who don't promptly report when guns are stolen, destroyed, lost or sold.

The fines range up to $2000 and the law goes into effect in August.
