Chicago basketball peace tournament a 'success'

March 4, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Saint Sabina hosted the championship game Monday night of its 12-week "peace tournament."

Father Pfleger says the tournament is bringing otherwise violent street gang members together on common ground.

"I've seen the change," said Pfleger. "I've seen them the way they're treating each other, the way they talk to each other and how it carries out into the street. Twelve weeks with five and six different gangs represented here every Monday night. Not a single fight."

Mayor Rahm Emanuel showed up and put his own stamp of approval on the program.
