Driver James Gilkerson got out of his car and opened fire on officers with an AK-47. Both officers were wounded, but were able to shoot back. He's heard on police dash cams saying "kill me" at one point.
Gilkerson was wounded and died from his injuries. Police say they found more ammunition and information on how to make explosives inside his car.
No motive for the shooting has been discovered.
