May 14, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The officer was making a traffic stop at approximately 9 p.m. Monday near West 83rd Street and South Kerfoot Avenue when the incident occurred. She approached a car, and female suspect who was driving reportedly punched the officer in the face, grabbed her vest and took off in the vehicle, dragging the officer. The driver allegedly let go of the officer just before the SUV crashed.

The 30-year-old police officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. She was released Tuesday morning and expected to return to work.

Chicago police said they had the female driver of the car in custody, but she had not been charged Tuesday morning. Authorities said she was being questioned.
