"Mike and I have been together for four years, and so like i said, we didn't really rush into it. But we're just so excited, he's the best person. He knows me inside and out, and I think I know him pretty well, too, and we just adore each other and our families love each other. "
Guthrie said their families have basically been in-laws for years, "just waiting for to us catch up and get with the program."
Bradley Cooper presented her with a dozen roses on the air.
Guthrie reported Monday that Feldman proposed during a tropical vacation, and she said yes. Guthrie and Feldman, a consultant at a strategic communications firm in Washington, have been dating for four years. It's the second marriage for Guthrie, who is 41, and Feldman's first. He's 44.
Despite a tropical sunset and champagne, she said she didn't realize what was happening until Feldman handed her the ring.
She accepted congratulations from all during Monday's show, even from the visiting Cooper. The couple hasn't set a wedding date. Despite Al Roker's prodding, don't expect an on-air ceremony.
Guthrie said both of their mothers were ecstatic.
"They're like, 'Hallelujah,' lighting candles, at long last, we can't believe it. They're so excited and yeah, it's really fun," Guthrie said.
