About 2:20 a.m., a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am was heading westbound on 102nd Street approaching Sangamon Street, when a 2004 Grand Am was northbound on Sangamon, approaching 102nd Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.
The Grand Am traveling down 102nd Street went through a stop sign and failed to reduce its speed, and crashed into the other car, Sullivan said. The two cars then crashed into the porch of a home at 102nd and Sangamon.
A 23-year-old woman who was the driver of the Grand Am that was struck by the other car was killed in the crash, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Fire Media Affairs. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office had been notified of the fatality but was not releasing any information on the victim as of late Sunday morning. The others injured were reportedly in their early- to mid-20s, according to police.
The four injured were all taken in serious to critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County or Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Fire Media.
