The two men have been at odds on the issue based on the Senator's proposed mass-arrest of gangster disciples by Chicago police paid for with federal funding. Congressman Rush responded by calling it an "upper middle class, white boy solution."
On Tuesday, the two men looked for common ground.
"Our hearts are in the same place, the hands might not be. He wants to solve these problems and I certainly want to solve them. Bobby and I have agreed to tour the 1st Congressional District. I have asked him to show me the worst of the worst- where officials may fear to tread," said Sen. Kirk.
Congressman Rush is also meeting with Democratic Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) later this evening to discuss the same issue.
