A sentencing hearing is under way for David Hatyina, who pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI in connection with the death of Tony Borcia, 10.

Borcia was tubing on Petite Lake near Lake Villa last July when he was struck by a boat being driven by Hatyina. The 51-year-old Bartlett man pleaded guilty in April to aggravated DUI of a combination of drugs and alcohol.

On Thursday, Borcia's family read impact statements.

"I will never forget, two people on that boat, staring at us like they were watching a movie," Jim Borcia, father, said.

Hatyina faces up to 14 years in prison. The sentencing hearing is expected to wrap up on Friday.
