The protected bike lanes are on Milwaukee Avenue between Kinzie and Elston.
The nearly one-mile stretch of road also includes signals dedicated to bicycle traffic and the city's first bike passing lane.
The lanes are protected from vehicular traffic with barriers and buffers.
It's part of a plan to build 100 of these lanes across the city.
