A team of volunteers is out cleaning up litter and doing some gardening along 63rd Street Beach.

It is part of the Shedd Aquarium's "keeping the lake great" summer initiative.

The goal of the program is to educate people on the unique freshwater habitat along the great lakes while providing a public service.

Volunteers will be out again Friday along the Indiana Dunes lakeshore.
