Thousands affected by this spring's flooding met Friday's 1 p.m. deadline to apply for food assistance. Long lines formed in north suburban Skokie and in the west Pullman neighborhood on Chicago's South Side.
Recipients must have a ticket and live in areas affected by April floods to receive the assistance.
