For the first time this year, the West Nile virus has been detected in Chicago.

The city's Department of Public Health says it found the virus in a batch of tested mosquitos.

But there have been no West Nile-related illnesses in Chicago so far this year.

The city is urging people to take precautions against mosquitos who may carry the virus by wearing insect repellant that contains DEET and eliminating standing water.
