The U.S. Coast Guard will be more visible on Lake Michigan as part of a national anti-boating and drinking campaign called Operation Dry Water.

Operation Dry Water hopes to raise awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The goal is to significantly reduce the number alcohol-related accident, injuries and deaths among recreational boaters.

The Coast Guard partnered with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Chicago Police Department for the mission.
