A Canadian judge granted creditor protection to a rail company whose runaway oil train caused a deadly explosion in Quebec.

That's after Montreal Maine and Atlantic Railway Limited and its Canadian counterpart filed for bankruptcy protection.

The company is based in Rosemont.

It faces lawsuits and enormous cleanup costs following the fiery July 6 crash that killed 47 people.
