The 13-year-old girl was leaving a store in the 2900-block of West Madison Street Monday afternoon when the man yelled out from a nearby white conversion van.
According to the community alert, the man asked her if she wanted some money and followed her for a time while she continued to walk home.
Once she arrived at home, the girl ran inside and alerted a family member.
