Skokie synagogue marks grand opening

A new synagogue which its congregation says is the first of its kind in the area is having a grand opening.

It's the Kehilat Chovevei Tzion synagogue in Skokie.

It claims to be the first to hold services for Jews of both European and Middle Eastern descent.

The congregation is modern orthodox.

It's 170 families outgrew the converted beauty salon where they had been holding services.
