A-CAN-emy Awards Gala Reception on September 5, 2013
CANstruction exhibit open to the public August 15 - September 8, 2013
WHAT:
CANstruction, a design and build competition to benefit local food banks across the nation, returns to Chicago with the A-CAN-emy Awards gala reception on September 5, from 5:30pm-8:30pm. This unique design competition allows local architects, engineers and construction companies to create incredible structures using canned goods, while using their design skills to fight hunger in Chicago. All of the canned goods used in the structures are donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
The gala reception will include complimentary cocktails and hor d'oeuvres, a preview of the structures and award ceremony with celeb judges and official after party at Ay Chiwowa (311 W Chicago Ave).
Last year's CANstruction® event raised nearly 96,000 lbs. of food. This year's event is expected to exceed that amount.

RECIPE:
Taco Party Soup
Ingredients:
1 can of your favorite beans - kidney, black
1 can green beans
1 can sweet corn
2 cans roasted tomatoes
1 can low-sodium chicken broth
dried onion to taste
dried garlic to taste
1 package spicy taco seasoning
Preparation:
Mix all of the ingredients in on pan, including all of the juice.
Simmer for 15 minutes
Tips: This soup can be dressed up with shredded chicken, sour cream, shredded cheese, hot sauce and more!
