Officials say the blaze is 60 percent contained, up from 45 percent Sunday. The fire also spread about 9 square miles, and now covers more than 357 square miles.
Full containment is not expected until Sept. 20.
Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for some south of Highway 120 and Tioga Road west of Yosemite Creek Picnic Area is closed.
The fire is the fourth-largest on record in California. It has burned more than 100 structures, including 11 homes.
The fire put a damper on holiday tourism over the weekend. For the first time since the fire broke out, smoke obscured the famous views from Yosemite Valley.
