A Chicago-area university bans alcohol possession on campus housing areas. Benedictine University in Lisle put the policy into effect on Thursday.

University leaders says it targets underage and irresponsible drinking.

They insist it has nothing to do with reports of 2 sexual assaults recently at a residence hall.

They say the goal is to provide a safe environment for everybody.

People 21 years of age or older will be allowed to drink at a restaurant on campus and at authorized university events.
