FAST FACTS:
Joliet West High School is home to approximately 2,990 students in grades 9-12. It has been named a 2012 Chicago Tribune Top 100 Workplace, and has been named twice to the College Board's Advanced Placement Achievement List for opening AP classroom doors to a significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher.
In 2013, 69 Joliet Township High School students earned the distinction of 2013-2014 Illinois State Scholar. In addition, 43 students were named as Advanced Placement Scholars by the College Board. The Joliet West High School colors are black and gold and the school mascot is a Tiger. Several Tigers will be on hand for the Friday Flyover.
Joliet West Marching Band:
Joliet West High School Band has a rich tradition. The program includes the Marching Tigers (marching band), Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, Jazz, Pep, and Concert Band. In 2013 The Joliet West symphonic band qualified for the Illinois Superstate Concert Band Invitational at the University of Illinois for the 6th time since 2003. The Symphonic Wind and Concert Bands were IHSA state qualifiers for the 2012-2013 school year, and the band director Kevin Carroll received the 2013 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Carroll was chosen from more than 510 nominees through a rigorous selection process that included classroom observations and interviews with colleagues, administrators, students and parents.
Football Team:
Joliet West High School is a proud member of the South West Suburban Conference. Tonight (9/27) the Tigers take on the Bolingbrook Raiders at Bolingbrook. The Tigers will go into this game with a 2-2 record. Head coach Jason Aubry has been with the Joliet football program for eight years. .
