Gold Star presented to mothers who lost children fight America's wars

The Army honored all mothers who have lost children while fighting America's wars with ceremonies across the country.

Governor Pat Quinn was at the state's 77th annual Gold Star Mother's Day at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Congress created the day back in 1936, and in 1947 the Gold Star lapel pin was created and presented to the soldier's surviving family members.
