Community members and police officers Thursday took part in a walk for domestic violence awareness in the Logan Square neighborhood.

The event was organized by officers in the 25th police district on West Grand.

Before heading out on the walk police provided information of what to do in situations where there is domestic violence and how to get help.

Many marchers wore purple to honor victims of domestic violence.

They marched outside in the community to encourage people to break the silence of domestic violence.
