Music lessons early in life benefit into adulthood

Researchers at Northwestern University studied two groups of older people, some who took music lessons as kids and some who did not.

The brains of those with early musical training responded more quickly to certain sounds.

The difference was small but significant, and it was true even if the person hadn't touched an instrument in decades.
