A community activist gets a feel for what it's like to be homeless, as Andrew Holmes will sleep outdoors Friday night.

He says the number of homeless people is up in Chicago and other cities and he wants to raise awareness of the problem.

Holmes will be sleeping under a viaduct Friday night in the 4600 block of North Wilson.

Holmes also tried to help a number of homeless people, giving out food, pillows and blankets.
