West Side alderman calls emergency meeting over coyotes

November 20, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The animals have been spotted a few times recently in the city.

As we first reported, one may have bitten a 3-year-old boy at a West Side park.

29th Ward Alderman Deborah Graham called together representatives from the park district, animal control, and streets and sanitation on Wednesday night to talk about the threat of coyotes.

"You cannot feed wildlife, you should not have them at the bus stop over here waiting for food scraps as people get off the bus stop," said Sandra Alfred, Chicago Animal Control.

Experts say if you don't feed them, coyotes are usually more afraid of us than we are of them.
