Cook County State's Attorney to begin inquiry into 6 Chicago police officers

A spokeswoman for Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez tells Eyewitness News Friday that the office will "begin an inquiry" into the actions of six Chicago police officers.

Wasim Rashan has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against those officers.

His lawyers say the officers illegally searched his anal cavity looking for drugs last May. They say it's a hate crime because Rashan is of Iraqi-American descent.

Rashan says the cavity search happened at Area Central headquarters at 51st and Wentworth.

The police department tells ABC7 Eyewitness News Friday night that those officers remain on full-duty.
