EB 80/94 reopens at Cline after multi-vehicle crash in NW Indiana

December 11, 2013 (CHICAGO)

All lanes of eastbound I-80/94 were closed around 5:40 a.m. during the Wednesday commute. They reopened around 7:15 a.m.

"We're happy to report no injuries," Indiana State Police Corporal Larry Koebcke said.

Indiana State Police say a motorist was going to fast when she lost control of her 1993 Buick. That triggered a chain reaction crash that involved three semis that were hauling five pontoon boats, general cargo and antifreeze, respectively. The semi carrying the boats lost it load, and four pontoons came to rest on the Borman Expressway.

Desiree Hampton, 22, of Hammond, was cited for spedding too fast for conditions.

Officials warned drivers that roads across Northwest Indiana are slick.

"Please be careful," Koebcke said.
