Rev. Jesse Jackson demands changes for inmates at Cook County Jail

December 26, 2013 (CHICAGO)

''It becomes a jail hotel, like a home shelter, and they [inmates] are being held without a charge. Also, when they come to court, they spend more time in jail, that is inhumane,'' Jackson said.

Jackson said he will make the case that those prisoners locked up for non-violent charges should be released and put on a monitor and obtain job-skills training.

Jackson celebrated Christmas with the inmates on Wednesday.
