Snow blamed for fatal Manhattan crash

January 18, 2014 (MANHATTAN, Ill.)

Authorities say the car lost control around a curve in the road and got t-boned by a pickup truck.

One person inside the car was killed.

Two others in that vehicle were critically injured.

"Visibility was poor," said Chief Dan Forsythe. "The snow was pretty much what we're seeing now and the roads were real slick and there wasn't a lot of traffic so the roads were really slick and the plows haven't been through here yet."

A separate spinout happened along the Dan Ryan at 71st Street in Chicago.

In Peotone, a driver swerved and struck a guardrail along I-57 and Peotone Road.
