That's where a Chicago woman was killed Friday in a terrorist attack along with 20 other people.
Protesters carried signs that read "We Denounce Terrorism."
On Friday, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the restaurant while two other terrorists stormed inside and opened fire.
Twenty-seven-year-old Lexie Kamerman of Chicago was among the dead.
Kamerman was working at the American University in Kabul helping other young women get an education.
Sunday night her aunt said Lexie was a courageous woman.
"With all the things that she had already accomplished in her short life, there was so much more that she was going to do," said Susan Clayton. "You know, that's gone. I mean, we can't get that back."
Kamerman graduated from Chicago's Latin School, then Knox College where she was an all-conference water polo player.
Governor Pat Quinn said she had a servant's heart.
"She went to a faraway country, Afghanistan, where women are often times treated very poorly, not even allowed to read, and she wanted to teach reading and teach women in that country," he said.
