The 21-year-old mother and her daughters, ages 2 and 1, were discovered in an apartment on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica just after 7 p.m. Sunday.
The victims were identified as Deisy Garcia and 2-year-old Daniela Mejia and 1-year-old Yaslin Mejia. They were all pronounced dead at the scene, and knives were found inside the apartment.
Family members became alarmed when Garcia did not show up for church.
"She was a great mother," family friend Sarei Hernandez said. "She loved her kids. You could tell she loved her kids a lot. She was a really happy mother. She was proud of her daughters. She never left them alone."
The Queens district attorney says the father is considered a person of interest.
