Mayor Rahm Emanuel confident despite Divvy supplier bankruptcy

January 28, 2014 (CHICAGO)

Divvy's supplier is called Public Bike System. It provides bikes, stations and software for Divvy. On Tuesday, Mayor Emanuel compared the program to other financially troubled companies.

"United Airlines went through bankruptcy, they continued to fly. American Airlines just finished through bankruptcy, they continued to fly. Divvy will continue to be there as a program, as a bike sharing program, one of the best in the country as they work through their financial hardships," said Mayor Emanuel.

The city withheld a $2.1 million payment to Divvy for failing to meet certain deadlines. On Tuesday, the mayor said that would be paid when the conditions were met.
