Teenager sexually assaulted in Logan Square

March 12, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The teenager was walking in the 1900-block of North Pulaski Street around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when a man began following her. Police say the offender grabbed the teenager, pulled her into a gangway and sexually assaulted her.

Chicago police issued a community alert and are encouraging residents, women especially, to walk in pairs and not interact with strangers.

"I'm sacred but it can't stop my everyday functions. So, I mean, you just have to be careful of your surroundings," Alexis Wilson said.

"It's kind of scary because I'm always this way with my two-year-old. It could happen anywhere. Especially walking with her," Asia Garcia said.

Police have only a vague description of the suspect, though they say he was wearing a black and yellow letterman style jacket.
