The apartment is located in the 200-block of 11th Ave in New York. Police were called at 10:05 a.m. and found her the woman dead.
The medical examiner is still investigating the cause of death.
Scott was known in her career as a fashion designer who dressed celebrities for awards shows and movies.
An official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the victim's next of kin had not yet been notified. The official says Scott was found hanging from a doorknob by her assistant at in Manhattan. The official says no note was found and there was no sign of foul play.
A spokeswoman for Mick Jagger says the singer is "completely shocked and devastated by the news."
