Gov. Quinn proclaims Saturday 'Autism Awareness Day'

April 12, 2014 (BROOKFIELD, Ill.)

Children with the disorder were invited to Brookfield Zoo for an event where they could connect with animals, nature and each other.

Governor Quinn says that autism awareness day is a way to make Illinois a more 'educated and welcoming state.'

According to his office there are more than 2-million people in the u-s with an autism spectrum disorder.

They experience social and communication difficulties.
