Roseland bus stop accident injures 5 near 103rd, Michigan

April 22, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The car may have been the subject of a police pursuit when it reached the intersection and slammed into another car, sending it careening into a CTA bus stop at 103rd and Michigan.

It hit five people who were waiting for the bus. Paramedics took one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other four people were also rushed to local hospitals. They range in age from 25 to 64 years old.

"The car ran into the bus stop, and just hit 'em, just like that. (And what'd you see when you walked up?) People lying down," said Marshall Lewis, witness.

Witnesses say the man who caused the crash not only survived, but got out of the car and ran off. Witnesses said officers were able to catch up with him, and he is believed to be in police custody.
