2 charged in connection to Arlington Heights BB gun cases

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) -- Two men are in custody and charged in connection with a series of BB gun shootings that damaged the windows of dozens of homes and cars in Arlington Heights, Ill.

Stephen Hlavacek, 20, and 18-year-old Luis Landa Gutierrez are charged with felony criminal damage to property. Hlavacek is also charged with arson.

He was traced through his car which was captured on surveillance video at the scene of a trash can fire last month.

Another video captured someone firing a BB gun from inside a car.

Police said they recovered eight BB guns from the suspects during their investigation.
