Honoring children at the Chicago CureSearch Walk
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WLS) -- Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer. To combat the disease, the Chicago CureSearch Walk will honor the children battling the disease and raise money to support research. The 8th Annual Chicago CureSearch Walk will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Opening ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m. at Boomer's Stadium in Schaumburg. During the event's opening ceremony, survivors will be called to the stage to state their name and receive a medal, while those who lost their battle will be remembered as families display photos and there is a dove release in their memory. After the Opening Ceremony, the survivors will lead the Walk. Jill Woodman and Joanna Meyers from the 2016 Chicago CureSearch Cancer Walk sat down with ABC 7 to talk about the event and the need to end childhood cancers.
