Chicago Public Schools announces property tax increase

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago property owners will pay more in taxes next year.

Chicago Public Schools announced a $225 million property tax increase. That works out to about $177 for the average homeowner.

More than half the increase will go to teacher pensions.
