PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WLS) -- Dolly Parton announced the formation of a fund called the 'My People Fund' to assist the victims of the Great Smoky Mountain wildfires in Sevier County, Tennessee.

The fund will be established by the Dollywood Company and the Dollywood Foundation, and will provide $1,000 each month to Sevier County families who lose their homes.

"We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. I know it has been a trying time for my people and this assistance will help get them back on their feet," Parton said in a statement.

Further information will be released on Friday, Parton said. Anyone who would like to contribute to the My People Fund should visit dollywoodfoundation.org.
