MENLO PARK, Calif. -- Facebook is giving users a way to join in the suicide prevention effort by reporting a post that has them worried.
Over the next few months, the Menlo Park based social media giant will launch new tools giving concerned users several options. They'll be able to message a friend who may be showing signs of depression or they can contact that person's other friends and connect with a mental health expert for advice.
Facebook staffers will review the reported post and reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline which will then contact the person in question.
