Military wife surprised with home makeover
In just 48 hours, a Highland Park woman will have a new bathroom thanks to her Navy husband.

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Navy Chief Petty Officer Eric Sirkin is on a year-long deployment. But that didn't keep him from surprising his wife for Mother's Day.

The Highland Park officer entered his wife, Annie, into a contest at Lowe's Home Improvement Center. She'll have a new bathroom just in time for Mother's Day.

"Totally shocked. You see this on TV. It does not happen to you," Annie Sirkin said. "It is amazing that from so far away he could do something special."

The Sirkins have a young daughter. They will spend the weekend at a hotel while construction workers get started. They hope to have it done in 48 hours.

"We decided to help and put the wheels in motion," Kelly Connelly, Lowe's representative, said.
