HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A group of women did not wear makeup Sunday and they posted selfies to prove it to raise awareness about a deadly skin disease effecting thousands of men and women.

"Face Off for Scleroderma" in Highland Park was organized by Lisa Goodman-Helfand, who was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder when she was just ten years old.

"This is my first time ever going out in public without makeup on," she said. Literally I've never pulled out of my garage without makeup. I won't go to the curb to get my garbage out without makeup on because this is so attention drawing."

Sunday's event raised $600 for scleroderma research.
