SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run seeks to raise money, awareness

The annual SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run is back for a 13th year and they're looking for survivors and fighters to join the campaign.

Chuck Strand, the CEO of Us TOO International, visited the ABC7 studio to talk about the event and his organization. Each year, the prostate cancer community gathers to raise funds and awareness for the Support, Education, and Advocacy (the "SEA" of SEA Blue) of those affected by prostate cancer.

SEA Blue will be held 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 10 in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood at LaSalle and Stockton along Chicago's lakefront. Individuals and teams participate in a 5K race certified by the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) or a celebration walk through Lincoln Park.

Money raised will help fund the work of Us TOO International, a nonprofit that provides educational resources and support services to the prostate cancer community at no charge.

Many Chicagoland families and children are also participating by selling Blue Lemonade, which represents the cause and seeks to raise awareness and raise money for the organization.

Event registration is priced at $45 for 5K adult runner, $40 for adult walker, $30 for 5K child runner, $25 for child walker, and free for children five and under. Prior to the event, participants can earn prizes by raising funds through donations from family and friends. Those who are unable to participate in person, but still want to help fundraise, can register at no charge as a "virtual mover."
